Abstract: | The article seeks to examine the reign of the first king of the Salian dynasty, Conrad II (1024–1039). Thereby it particularly seeks to focus on the change in the perceptions of the state defined in personal relationships to the state defined in political institutions. The development of this transcendental understanding of the state and the state authority makes the reign of Conrad II appear as an important stage in the German state building process. |
