The article focuses on tendencies of economic growth in the Kyrgyz Republic, offers a methodology of assessing Kyrgyz poverty levels and provides statistics reflecting the progress in alleviating poverty and extreme poverty. It shows that an increase of average income will affect poverty more than re-distribution of resources aimed at reducing inequality, but to alleviate extreme poverty the poorest part of the population should be directly supported and involved in the process of economy improving.en_US
